MARCO GEMELLARO
Sicilian by birth, he has lived in ten countries and speaks four languages. Sound engineer, musician, classical guitarist — author of the album Echoes of Spain.
For years he moved through the world of self-work retreats — Tantra, the Enneagram, shamanism, schools of the Gurdjieffian tradition — until the Collapse in a bare room in Spain, out of which this book was born.
He lives in Paradiso, Switzerland. Sexual Intelligence is his first book.
Maps are drawn by those who have fallen in the territory.
Never by those who have arrived.
I was born in a small town in Sicily, between Catania and Messina. A hamlet clinging to the slopes of Etna — one of those places where everyone knows who you are from your surname before you even learn to say it. I grew up in a world where love was bought with silence.
At nineteen I left the town, and I never really went back. I let the world drag me along the way a river in flood drags you: without resisting, without choosing, without asking where it was taking me. Months in Africa as a sound engineer. Years on cruise ships, as a sound and stage-production manager. Seasons in Thailand, Australia, Mallorca, Seville.
Almost everything I learned — and that I put in these pages — I didn't take from books. I paid for it with my own skin, in territories I crossed badly, well, twice, through the cold and through the Fire.
Sexual Intelligence — The Way of Fire is my first written work. It is also my first true escape from the cellar where I had locked away, for far too many years, my own voice.
Echoes of Spain
Shortly before writing this book, I released a small album of classical guitar. Three pieces — two originals that had sat in a drawer for years, and a cover of Hijo de la Luna — recorded in a single session of just over half an hour.
